“I can wear my own underwear…”

“Done!”

I. am. hooked.

I have been following up on Aknacer and Rosie Hardy’s love story on flickr. I log in religiously every day to keep up. It is so touching, surreal, romantic. At times like these, I wish I were a teenager again.

Yesterday, so fed up was M at having to deal with the camera in his face again that he tried to foil my photo-taking attempts. Heh. He had inadvertently given me a jewel of a shot.

My first camera lens

July 6, 2008

I love to read reviews. Book reviews. Children’s DVD reviews. Reviews on makeup. Movie reviews. Photographic equipment reviews. And it is because of a review that I finally landed myself my very own camera lens today! Yay! It’s the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM. The husband made this recommendation when he learnt that I wanted a macro lens and so I read up on it. Took me to the shop to try it out and I really loved how I could get really close up to an object, the lovely bokeh and its overall resultant effect on the photo. And I got the remote control too. Heh. The shop assistant initially handed me one that had to be plugged into the camera.

I was like, “Huh?! How far does this go?”

“About three feet.”

“Three feet?!!” I was thinking – I can’t take full body shots three feet from the camera! “Don’t you have a wireless one?!”

And so he did. Yay.

Just another day

July 5, 2008

Had a late brunch with all of the in-laws today. We had booked a private room at the Jade Room at Hotel Royal. With six kids, the oldest being three and the youngest two months, it’s difficult to have family meals without a private room these days. The last meal we had at Ivins with the children getting in and out of their seats, running, singing and with two hawking photographers, I think we irritated many other restaurant patrons.

Then in the evening, we had another heavy meal. Took the folks to The Villa Bali. The waiter made good recommendations and it was a charming place but I was literally feasted on by the damn mosquitoes. I counted. Thirteen bites on my legs. Yeah… my lucky number. Fortunately this wonderful mother had attached a mosquito patch to each of her sons’ clothes. We had a great time and M really enjoyed being able to walk about during the meal, especially to the landscaped mini garden and fountain.

On a side note, I really need to get a remote control for my camera. The 10s self timer just doesn’t cut it. The photos turn out blurred.

Project 365

July 4, 2008

I’ve been so totally preoccupied with my 2 Project 365s that I have been doing little else. Sometimes I feel like I’m living my life through a viewfinder. Urgh. I’d better take control.

The female being

July 1, 2008

Even as a little girl, I’ve always seen myself as having three girls. And that I’d name them Myra, Mikayla and Mischa.

Or Mischa, Sasha and Natasha.

I love those names. But God has blessed me with two boys instead. Not that I’m complaining. I love them to bits. Perhaps it’s God’s way of telling me that I would have to learn to deal better with women, in the form of my future daughters-in-law.
